1. What is the user name and password required to begin working in SCORE?.
User name and password are "admin" - both in lower case.

2. After download, the file "SCOREupdate20020102.exe" has not been copied in the C:\SCORE IHWG folder.
The download of the file is not directed to a default folder. The file itself is a self-extracting zip file. Only after double clicking on this file will it extract the contents to the default folder "C:\SCORE IHWG"

3. How do I export data?
Click in the upper menu line on "Data export", then on "export data." you will be asked to specify the folder where you want your export files to be generated. REMEMBER THIS FOLDER IN ORDER TO FIND THE FILES AGAIN. The export file name is fixed, but you can change the folder or drive. The file name consists of the word "transfer," your labcode and the date. If you labcode is ZABEDI, and you export on February 4th, 2002, the file name will be "transfer_ZABEDI_22200204.vda" and "transfer_ZABEDI_22200204.txt."

4. I have the SCORE version 3.025. How do I update?
Download the update patch from the IHWG web site. you will receive the file "SCOREupdate20020102.exe." The file itself is a self-extracting zip file. After double clicking on this file, it will extract the contents to the default folder "C:\SCORE IHWG."

5. I have imported SBT data, but it does not match at all.
Check if you have loaded the correct sequence for the correct locus and if you have selected the correct sense/reverse property. If you have, please send me (helmberg@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) the data as an attachment, note which locus it has been derived from and I will see what I can do.

6. The typing kit I use in the laboratory is missing.
Please contact me (helmberg@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) with the specification of the typing kit. It might be available already or I will try to organize the data as soon as possible.

7. There are differences between the SCORE interpretation and my own interpretation.
The specification of the typing kits used might differ between two interpretation programs. Either the allele databases are not identical (the IHWG database relies on the October 2000 release), or the allele reactivities per probe have been specified differently. In either way, keep reporting the actual observed typing patterns. If any incorrect characterization of the probes used for typing has occurred, it can be corrected afterwards.

8. If I download a newer version, will I have to re-enter my initial sequence data?
You can update SCORE anytime. Before you do so, however, I recommend that make a copy of your "user.vda"file, as this file contains all your user specific data. All other files can be restored, as long as you keep a copy of your user.vda. Just download the update patch, and all your data should remain there as they had been (trust me, it is all based on the well know reliability of MS).
