Please find attached a PDF link to the grant application submitted for the work related to the analysis i) of the expression of HLA class I antigens in various types of malignancies utilizing formalin fixed tissues and of its clinical significance; and ii) of the loss of HLA-A2 antigens in various types of malignancies utilizing frozen tissue sections and of its clinical significance.
Please note that we can start these studies since anti-HLA class I mAb and anti-beta2m mAb which stain formalin fixed tissues and anti-HLA-A2 mAb which stain frozen tissue sections are already available. Whoever has interest in this type of studies should send a request for antibodies to me indicating the type of tumor which will be investigated and the number of cases which will be tested. We are getting ready to prepare large, well-standardized mAb preparations.
I believe that we should analyze the formalin fixed tissue sections also for the expression of HLA class II antigens given the current interest for the expression of these antigens by malignant cells. We have identified anti-HLA class II mAb which stain formalin fixed tissues.
We have performed a limited wet workshop to optimize and standardize the immunoperoxidase staining technique for formalin fixed tissue sections. In the next few days we will put the detailed methodology in the web site.
